auto saving as Wordpad docs

Recently, my computer went down and our tech person had to
refresh Windows. It changed all of my Word documents to
wordpad documents. Now when I save a document in word, it
saves as a wordpad document not word doc. I can pull the
documents up when I am in Word but if I just go to my
documents folder and click on a doc, it comes up in
Wordpad. I am using Word 2000.
