auto saving projects to local hard drive for Project Server 2003.

As no easy way exists to selectively restore individual projects from project
server I thought that a user could use the Tools>Option and save tab to take
periodic saves to their local hard drive. Periodically the user is prompted
to save their changed project - which works fine other than it isn't saving
to their hard drive even though they have a local path name under File
Locations. Why doesn't this work and what needs to be done to ensure that a
backup of their project is made to their hard drive? We are using Project
2003 and at service pack 2.

The process does not work as you wish because AutoSave saves to the default
save location, which in a Project Server environment is the Project Server
database. I am not aware of any way to force the software to save to the
user's hard drive instead. Instead, make sure that your DBA's are making a
nightly backup of the Project Server database. If you ever need to restore
a single project, then refer to the following FAQ:

Hope this helps.
