I'm not clear on exactly what you're hoping to accomplish [for example, does
"in front of a line of text" mean at the beginning of the line occupied by
the text, at the start of a specific point on a line preceding a certain
part of the text, or in the foreground with the document text flowing
behind - in back of - the graphic? And "align" with *what*... the text, the
edge of the page, another graphic...?], so here a few general points to
consider;
Graphic Objects in a Word doc are *always* attached to the text in one of
two ways:
A) In Line with Text, which means that the object is treated as though it
were a text character inserted into the line of text and shifts with the
text accordingly, or
B) Floating, in which case the graphic is in a separate "layer" than the
document text but is still "anchored" to the first line of a paragraph. You
make a graphic "float" by applying some form of Text Wrapping to it *instead
of* having it set to In Line with Text.
Keeping those points in mind, let us know more specifically what it is that
you want to achieve. Also, what kind of "boxes" are you trying to add & how
are you being prevented fom making a change?
I'm sure someone will be able to guide you to a joyful conclusion
