Auto shape and file size

I have 2 issues I am dealing with.

1. I am placing screen shots in my document. When I
insert an autoshape such an an arrow or circle, I get a
black line in the left margin next to my picture.

2. I have a document that only has about 20 screen shots
and is only 35 pages long, but it is almost 9 MB. I
don't understand this because I have another document
with many more screenshots and about 300 pages, and the
doc is only 4 MB.

It sounds as if you have Track Changes enabled. Turn it off, then Accept All
Changes in Document.
