Auto-suggest email address

Mari

I am using Outlook 2002 on Win 2000 pro. When addressing a new email, when I
start to type the address of someone who is in my contacts, of course Outlook
will auto-suggest the person's full address.

But I have found that Outlook will autosuggest someone's email even if they
are NOT IN MY CONTACTS, as long as I have sent (or received?) an email to
that person before at least once.

This is causing problems for me where I once typed in a wrong email address
(only the ending was wrong) to someone, and now that wrong email is
suggested every time I start to type that person's email (along with the
right one, but the wrong one is listed first). I would like to know how to
"unsuggest" a memorized email recipient in the Outlook email "to" field.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. If your autocomplete list contains only a single entry, use the
directions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289975
If that article is unavailable, the gist of it is to send a message using a
name or address that will add another entry to that dropdown list. Then you
will have the ability to use the arrow key to select the name you want to
remove. This step is no longer necessary in Outlook 2003 and higher.

To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
