Auto Text entry does not save

I modify an auto text entry, give it the same name, and
click on "yes" when asked if I want to redefine the auto
text entry. The new version should always come up after
that until I modify again at some point, right? The
correct version works only until I restart my computer,
at which point it reverts back to the old, original
version. I am running Word 2002 and Office XP
Professional. Any advice?

Something (network policies?) may be interfering with saving changes to
normal.dot. In any case, I try to keep my AutoText in a separate global
template.
