"Auto Text" function in Header & Footer toolbox

Help!!! Can anyone help me to restore the Auto Text function that has
dissapeared from the header & Footer formatting toolbox? For some reason it
has gone missing and I need it to format the page numbers so that they read
"-1-" to overcome a printer problem.

You don't need AutoText for this. Just type a hyphen, click the Insert Page
Number button, and type another hyphen. But if your AutoText menu is empty,
it's most likely because you've saved a document as Normal.dot. See

creating a new one.

If your header/footer is in a style other than Header or Footer, your
AutoText menu may not work.

If the header/footer is in a style other than Header or Footer, the AutoText
menu will show either the entries for that style (if any) or all AutoText
entries. A blank AutoText list usually indicates a faulty Normal.dot.
