Auto Text

Peggy Champion

I have backed up Word data onto laptop and my "normal" template in
the "shared applications" under "templates" and cannot access my
custom auto text entries. If I open "Normal," the auto text entries are
there. If I then open a document already started, only the standard
auto text entries are there and I cannot access my custom auto text
entries.

AutoText entries are style-dependent, so only show up if the cursor is in
the style that matches the entry.

AutoText entries are saved in templates. If your custom entries are not
saved in the Normal template, you may have to change the "Look in" dropdown
in the AutoText dialog to a different template. (This setting appears to be
sticky, and controls the Insert | AutoText menu offerings.)

I don't understand what you mean by that, or what it has to do with your
AutoText, if you explain more clearly it may shed some light on your
problem. Are the documents already started based on the Normal template?
What template did you save your custom entries in?

What version and OS?
