auto update of table of contents

does any kind soul know how to make word 2003
to perform automatic page update of the table of contents
on the exit or entrance?

I don't know how you do this with 2003, nor do I know of a
way to *automatically* update the TOC on exit. But. In
2002, you can get your table of contents to update
automatically everytime you print. Assuming 2003 isn't
all that different from 2002, you go into Tools, Options,
select the Print tab, and check the Update Fields box.
The table of contents will automatically update every time
you send the document to print. Of course, it will also
update any other field you have in the document. The other
way to do this, which is not automatic is to right click
on the table of contents, and select Update Fields.
You'll then be prompted to update only the page numbers or
the entire TOC. Of course, if the code has been completely
rewritten in 2003, this won't help you.
