Auto update ver 11.3.6 now Excel tries to open all files andcrashes!

Everything was fine with Office 2004 ver 11.3.5 and after the auto update to
3.6 , upon opening EXCEL, it proceeds opening all files, runs out of memory
and crashes (message indicates closing files but crashes after I click on
OK). ENTOURAGE opens fine as does WORD; however, WORD indicates ver 3.5 (ENT
ver 3.6) I've shut everything down and rebooted; same problem.

The problem is actuallly the Quicktime 7.2 update, which broke the
Carbon libraries. Check out other messages in this formum and the
macfixit.com forums for more news on this.
I had the same problem and I had to do an archive and install. Other
users were able to recover by unistalling QT 7.2 and installing the
10.40.10 combo update.

Is this bug just affecting those with Intel machines? I've been reading a
lot of the discussions across the different office groups (Word, excel,
entourage, etc.) and that seems to be a common theme. I'm still on 10.3.9
for another few days before making the leap to Tiger, but I haven't yet
installed the latest Word, QT, or iTunes updates.

It seems to be mostly Intel machines, but not all of them. I have two
of each of G4 and Intel and all of them updated OK.
