When I attempt to install the MS auto updater 2.1.1, I get a message that states my connection to the update server was interrupted, the server was
too busy or there was a problem connecting with my network. Has anyone
had this issue and how do I resolve this.

You don't need this incremental updater. It's rolled into the 12.1.5
updater. There are two main combo updaters for Office 2008:

12.1.0 SP1
12.1.5

Newer DVDs come with 12.1.0 already installed.

I have not been able to use update. Discussions with my ISP and Microsoft leads me to believe it is an Apple problem. Is Apple going to fix it?

The only way I have been able to update to 12.1.0
12.1.5
12.1.7
is to download the update to a flash drive on another machine and install on my macBook
