AutoArchive Exchange Account to "On My Computer" LEOPARD

G

There was a script that was created on the Entourage Help Page (http://
www.entourage.mvps.org/exchange/autoarchive.html) that enabled you to
auto archive exchange email in Entourage 2004. This seems to work
well in Tiger, but I tried it using Leopard and it copies all of the
folders and sub folders but no emails. I was wondering if there was
an updated script out there that is compatible with Leopard?

Thanks!

I can confirm that it's not working. I'm trying to find out why it's broken
and post a replacement that's Leopard friendly.

whoops sorry for the blank reply i was too quick on the post button after
choosing a name (I digress).

So it's been a month and no script and now I'm in a bind because Apple is
shipping Leopard machines that won't boot with Tiger. That means I'm going
to have a bunch of exchange users with full mailboxes on the server because
they are used to the mail automatically moving for them with the aid of this
handy script. I found a developer who's working on a solution - it's not
free but it's close. If you're stuck like me, please encourage them to get
their app out so we can avoid full exchange mailboxes!

You'll find them at softhing .com (take out the space). We actually use
their EEAX already to archive mail to text files so users can backup their
own mail. Too much mail!!!

Thanks for your efforts Diane and I hope to see a solution soon - gotta say
I don't care if I have to pay a few bucks for it either.

It's in testing now. Should be soon.

Hello all,

I have migrated to MS Office 2008.
I find that the AutoArchive script still is broken and that -to my knowlegde- Entourage 2008 doesn't include any handy way to archive an Exchange account.
The only way I can think of the flag all the messages to archive with a certain category and then make an export of all the flagged messages.

Hi Diane, I tried to e-mail you a couple weeks back but I'm guessing you did
not get my message. I have been checking for the updated script regularly on
the site but I couldn't wait any longer and ended up paying $10 for the EEAO
application from softhing.com and it works great. I'm actually okay with
paying for it because if it ever needs updating softhing will revise theirs
quickly - I won't have to wait next time!

Not that I don't appreciate the effort, I just really needed the archiving
to work now.

Thanks for trying.

I'll post that link with the script. I know the current script is still in
testing.

I found the issue with the script. The problem is with the Identity name.
For instance, my identity is "Main Identity" which is used in the mdfind
script. The space is what is causing the problem. A quick fix to the script
is to change the following line:

OLD LINE:
set scopePath to "~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage/2004/" &
identityName & "/"

NEW LINE:
set scopePath to "~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage/2004/Main\\
Identity/"

Also, if you are now using Entourage 2008 make sure you change that in the
above line too. I'm using it with 2008 just fine.
