Autoarchive Question

In OL 2003 I have having a puzzling problem autoarchiving (AA) my e-mail.
I have AA set to archive everything older than 3 months and to do so every
14 days. But there is still e-mail in my Inbox as far back as 4/16/08, a
lot more than 3 months. Incidentally, when I reset the AA time frame I
clicked on the Apply These Settings To All Folders Now. I reset the AA
interval to one day, clicked the Apply These Settings button and now the
oldest e-mail is from 6/13/08. An improvement, but still way off the 3
month setting. Checking in the archive inbox, that 6/13 e-mail does not
appear there. Then I manually archived my Inbox and it made another small
difference. It looks like all mail after 9/16/08 was archived. This is not
the 3 months I set, but maybe it's "close enough." But oddly that 6/13
e-mail is still in the Inbox. I checked and confirmed that Do Not
Autoarchive was unchecked

How can I get OL to actually follow the settings?

Aha! I just knew there would be a simple answer. That June 2008 e-mail
was somehow modified in November!I know that when I have opened an e-mail
for some reason I am sometimes asked if I want to save any "changes." I
would have no reason to change the body or content of any e-mail I have
received but there are probably some technical but undiscernible changes
being made deep inside my computer. I always click "no" but in this
instance I probably clicked the wrong button or did something else
inadvertently.

Now that I am stuck with an accidental "modified date" is there a way to
change that date, say to June 2008??? I tried changing this in Properties
but to no avail. Thanks for your help.
