autocad copy/paste, then ungroup - very strange results

I have complicated large autocad drawigns. All I want is a very small section
of the overall plan. So I copy in autocad, paste into visio 2007. comes in
as a group just fine. However, when I ungroup it, the drawign becomes
extremely distorted - almost looks like an axonometric plan - no proportional
relationship of x and y axis. Any hints?
