From what I can see, go to the Formulas tab. You will see on the far right a
calulator icon, labeled "Calulation options". If you click on that it should
give you the ability to select "Automatic", "Automatic Except for Data
Tables", or "Manual".

It is actually even easier than the last post. Simply right-click in the
status bar and select the AutoCalculate functions you want displayed from the
Customize Status Bar options. Look for the section starting with Average and
simply check the items you want to appear or uncheck the ones you don't want.
