The autocomplete feature on my Excel -- where you begin to type in a name and the program gives you a choice of which previous names to pick -- works but only sporadically. How do I fix this?

Is there any pattern to the sporadic behavior?

Can you at least give an example of what you mean?

OK, suppose I'm keeping a tally of customers. Each time I type a name in a column, auto-complete should look for previous occurrences of that name in the column, and complete the name when I start typing it (or give me a choice as I type). But it only does this sometimes. I thought there was a pattern to it, namely, that it had to be a name I've typed in that session of having the excel document opened. But sometimes it doesn't even give me a name when I've just typed it. Honestly I can't figure out a pattern.
