Autocomplete in To: field, adding replied to contacts

Skuzzmeister

I have a client whos autocomplete is not working. "Automatic Name Checking"
is enabled, but it will not pull names out of the contact list into the
message header To:, cc:, or Bcc: fields.

Also, is there a way to have all of the email addresses that have been
replied to automatically add themselves to the contacts list?

Autocomplete relies on names already typed to resolve automatically - it
does not pull from the contacts folder. It is built dynamically.

Outlook 2002/2003 and Outlook 98/2000 Corporate or Workgroup mode does not
have the ability to automatically put people to whom you have replied in the
address book/contact folder. You would need to right click on the address
and add the name that way.

After furious head scratching, Skuzzmeister asked:

OK, but this client has typed the names, many, many times. And it still does
not autocomplete the address for him.

So I have to tell my client that Outlook does not automatically add replied
to email addresses to the Contacts list?

Verify that the correct version is in use and that the feature is enabled.
All addresses to which messages are sent are stored in the autocompletion
cache. Outlook has never added reply addresses to the Contacts Folder except
in the old IMO mode of Outlook 2000.

"Verify that the correct version is in use and that the feature is enabled."
How do I go about doing this?

"the old IMO mode of Outlook 2000."
What is this?
