AutoComplete stopped

I've been using Office 2007 Small Bus since early July, and I thought I'd
been using AutoComplete for the current date and other entries (eg, To Whom
It May Concern, etc.), but that seems to have stopped--probably yesterday.
In searching the threads, it seems a lot of folks have had trouble, and some
answers suggest that there is No AutoComplete at all in Word 2007. Am I just
dreaming?
Is there a way to use AutoComplete--at least for the current date?
