Hi
I've just uncovered the above problem with XP SP2/OL2007 where if I Ctrl
+right click the outlook system tray icon and run a "test configuration", a
few PC's fail. What is more odd is that all of these PC's fail to
successfully profile outlook at first launch, and instead you have to use the
control panel applet (Mail). The dialogs are all the same, but there must be
something different between outlook doing it vs the mail applet doing it. The
problem was first noticed when a few users' reported not being able to set
their Out of Office Assistant. Outlook ghosts, then after about 2 min errors
with "cannot connect to the server" error.
Outlook is a "hosted solution" so we don't have Exchange Servers on site,
and I've been assured that there are no differences in the users' who do work
and the ones who do not.
I did find:
http://www.proexchange.be/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=686,
however, this did not help as much as I'd hoped.
The problem appears to be specific to the PC, as while my configuration test
and OoO work on my own PC, it will not work for me on a PC that currently
fails i.e. not user specific.
Anyone seen anything even remotely like this?
Many thanks.
