Autocorrect capitalization

I use autocorrect codes that are sometimes capitalized and sometimes not.
For example, I use "e.g." to spell out "for example." At the beginning of
sentences, if I enter "E.g." or if I enter "e.g." and have checked
autocorrection options to automatically capitalize the first letter of a
sentence, it expands to "FOR EXAMPLE." Is there some way to have "e.g."
expand to "for example" in the middle of a sentence and "For example" at the
beginning of a sentence? Thank you.

It should not expand to "FOR EXAMPLE" unless you type "E.G." It should
expand "E.g." to "For example," which is what you want.

Thank you for your response. I have tried entering "e.g." with the
"Capitalize first word of a sentence" option and "E.g." with that option
turned off. In WordPerfect, it works as you say--I type "E.g." and it
expands to "For example" but in word that does not work. Do you have other
suggestions.

I can confirm what you're seeing. If you change the AutoCorrect entry to
"eg." instead of "e.g.," you'll find it works correctly. This will also
allow you to type "e.g." when you want "e.g." without having it
automatically expanded.
