AutoCorrect list global in Office 2007 except for formatted text

The Help feature in Office 2007 says that the AutoCorrect list is global
across the Office programs that support this feature, which means that when
you add or delete a word from the list in one Microsoft Office program, the
other Office programs are also affected. I found you have to open and close
programs to make the new entry globally available. However, I cannot find a
way to make formatted text globally available as that option is dimmed in
Outlook. Does anyone know why this option is dimmed in Outlook? Go to Tools,
Options, Mail Format tab, Editor Options, Proofing, AutoCorrect Options to
see what I mean.

Also, is there any limit to the number of characters for an AutoCorrect
entry? These used to be the limits according to this article

Formatted AutoCorrect entries are stored in Normal.dot (or whatever its
equivalent is in Word 2007), which is why they are not global.

Further to what Suzanne says, prior to 2007 formatted AutoCorrect entries
were shared between Word (itself) and Word used as Outlook editor. In 2007,
Outlook uses its own version of Word with a different Normal Template
(NormalEmail.dotm) so that formatted AutoCorrects are not shared in any way.

The dimmed "formatted text" option is normal. Before starting the Dialog,
select some formatted text (and you must be editing a message for this) and
you will then find it pre-entered in the "With" box and the formatted text
option pre-selected - just the same way it works in Word proper.

As far as I know, the limits have not changed.
