Autocorrect: move from Word 97 to Office 2003

S

Slam

I have moved a user from Office 97 on Windows NT to Word 2003 on XP Pro.

Article ID 912306 is 'how to move AutoCorrect from …Word 97 to …Word 2000 or
a later version’. It suggests transferring the user’s .acl file, found
successfully for Word 97 and named SU.ACL, to the relevant location on the XP
PC. It doesn’t seem to work fully.

After creating a new autocorrect entry on the new PC there seem to be two
..acl files (starting MSO…). I renamed both and loaded up the SU.ACL file.
Initially it didn’t work; I renamed it after one of the two MCO… files but
not all entries are there.

What is the best way to do this, please?

Thanks.

Use the utility available from the MPV FAQ site. It will pick up formatted
AutoCorrects which are not in the .acl file. See
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions
on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc.
