AutoCorrections missing!

V

Veta

On Wednesday morning, I discovered that all the shortcuts and corrections I'd
input to AutoCorrect over the last year were missing. They'd all been there
on Tuesday, and I didn't make any changes to the computer Tuesday night. I
haven't noticed any other problems.

Luckily, I keep a running list of my shortcuts, so I simply input them
again, but it will take awhile to build up the corrections, and anyway I
don't want this to happen again -- it was really terrible timing -- so I hope
someone can tell me what happened!

From reading other posts I gather this might have something to do with
Normal.dot. Where can I find Normal.dot and how do I find out if I
accidentally saved a file as Normal.dot?

Unless they are formatted, AutoCorrect entries are not stored in Normal.dot
but rather in .acl files.

Okay thanks, but do you know why my autocorrect entries were deleted, and how
I can prevent it from happening again?

One explanation might be that the language of your documents has changed,
since AutoCorrect entries are language-specific. Or it could be that you're
actually referring to AutoText entries, which *are* saved in Normal.dot.
