AutoDialer Problems

I know that the dialer is not exclusive to BCM, but when I try to autodial a
contact
I get an on-hook indication and a message that "another program is using the
selected telephony device" I have WinFax pro on my computer and have
disabled its start up programs with msconfig, and set its service to Manual.
I have no problems sending faxes through the modem with it, so the modem
works fine.
My phone is certainly not off hook when I'm trying to autodial.
Am Running WinXp Pro Sp2 with an Aopen FM56-PX modem.

This problem is supposedly addressed in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q158114/
but the solution says to check the device manager com port and adjust things.
Since this is an internal pci modem and it is using Com5, and that would
never show up in the device manager, this info is useless.
