autofill clears on reboot

Everytime I reboot my computer, the address autofill clears. By autofill I
mean, when you start typing an email address into the address bar, Outlook
recognizes the address as one that you have typed before and fills in the
rest of the email for you. This is a great feature, but when I reboot the
computer it clears and I have to go searching in my address book for emails I
use every day. It didn't used to do this. When I had Outlook on XP, it never
cleared -- remembered those emails permanently. Oh, I'm using Outlook 2003
on Vista operating system.

Perhaps your AutoComplete file has become corrupt. Locate your .NK2 file
which will probably be called Outlook.NK2 (it will have the same name as your
Outlook profile). It will probably be in a hidden Windows folder. Close
Outlook and rename the file to something like OutlookNK2.old. When you
reopen Outlook and start typing names into the To (etc.) fields again, the
new NK2 file should retain them.

first, thank you both for responding and helping. Ok then, since I could not

back to the NK2 option. The problem I"m having is, I don't know where to

the microsft office folder and couldn't find it there either. Any
suggestions? Or should I just reinstall outlook?

first, thank you both for responding and helping. Ok then, since I

If a new mail profile didn't work, it's not likely modifying the existing
NK2 file will work.

The problem I"m having is, I don't know where to find that file.

Open Windows Explorer and enter this in the Address bar:

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Office

Click Go. C:\Users\{user}\AppData is a hidden flolder and since
%LocalAppData% is the folder C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local, you won't see it
in a search unless you've enabled viewing hidden files and folders.

When you created the new profile, did you follow this guide?

For the most part I did, I didn't bother setting new PST files since the
instructions made it sound optional, and because it was very confusing to me.
Is this something I should do? I'm not sure what difference it would make,
the new profile was created and the same problem occurred.

me. Also, I didn't think it would matter since the second profile was setup
successfully and the problem still existed.

Well, you need a PST in order for Outlook to work, unless you're using
Exchange as your server.

In the VAST majority of cases, setting up a new mail profile _properly_
cures the problem you describe. If it doesn't for you, I'm afraid I can't
help.
