Autofill Problems

Hello,
I can't for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong.

I am trying to autofill a single column or row with numbers/days/months that run in a non sequential series. Ie: 2, 4, 6, 8/ Monday, Wednesday, Monday Wednesday / etc..

The autofill will only fill in sequential values (2, 3, 4, 5) and I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

I select two cells (2, 4) and drag down. The cells first all turn into 2 and when i select fill series, it fills the series 2, 3, 4, 5, etc...

I'm sure I am missing something completely obvious, but I have no idea...
