Autofilter doesn't work

T

hi there!

can someone tell me why the "autofilter" isn't working in my worksheet
(see attachment). And is there a way to get it working?

thanks in advance!

Autofilter stops at the first blank row.

tombogman,

You need a continuous stream of data connected to the rows. Insert a new
column - say column A. Expand all you groups and then in A1 place any entry
and copy it down the full length of your data then hide column A again.

The Autofilter should then work.

If you select your range first, the autofilter should work against that
selection--even if there are empty rows/columns.

Thx Sandy, that's the solution, it works great!

Dave, thanks for your answer but it doesn't seem to work ...

thx again for answering that fast!

I actually tried that before posting but it failed. I did not realise that
you had to select the range BEFORE applying the autofilter. The OP had the
autofilter already on so it failed when I just selected the range and tried
selecting a filter it failed.

I do my best never to let excel guess the range to sort/filter/chart/pivottable.

And I've never seen any of those fail if I select the range first--no matter how
many gaps there were.

I have no idea why it didn't work for tombogman. I'd suggest that he remove the
filter and try it again.
