autoformat fractions in MS Word 2002

I've learned how to AutoFormat fractions and have created several which are
listed in Tools/ AutoCorrect Options/ AutoCorrect tab. Trouble is all my
fractions have an asterisk after them and when I type one in a sentence the
cursor jumps to the next line. How do I correct this? Help.
