How do I change the color of the shading being used when I autoformat, list 2?
It's too dark and I'd like to lighten it a bit.
Thanks

You can't alter the effects of the AutoFormats other than by way of the
Options button in that dialog. Certain groups of formatting can be included
or not, but there is no in between.

However, once you apply the AutoFormat of your choice there's nothing to
prevent you from selecting cells & directly changing the shading to
something else... Or any other changes for that matter.

Click on the little Bar beside of the button for Background (if you have
tool-tips turned on hovering over the button will tell you what it is)

now a window will come up that will have various shaded of color. the
darkest being at top and lightest at bottom.

when you have selected correct color, just click on big button will
reuse that color. To set back to black and white open the window and
click autoformat, or auto. In 2008 there is a way in which you can
choose Accounting Background and it will automatically color every other
row the proper bookkeeping colors, of white and very pale green. I ran
across it but never used it. Therefore I couldn't tell you where I saw it.
