Automate linking of document via OLE

I have a table that contains documents linked via OLE in the table.
We receive new files via FTP and I want to run code that picks these
files up and appends them as new records to the table. I have no
problem with the code to identify the files and append the record but
how do I (with VBA) knowing the file path, append that as the linked
file. Anybody done this?
