Automate picture color depth change

S

Samir Ribic

My coworker have written the manual for the applicaation we are
currently writing. The manual contains about 500 embeded screenshots.
I gave him to add footnotes with help context to make it possible to
build help from this file.

However, while manual itself is about 18 megabytes, RTF version is
about 550 megabytes, so help file will be about 300 megabytes.

The obvious solution is to change pictures to 16 color bitmaps, but it
will be very boring to
- cut picture
- paste it to Paint shop Pro
- select color depth in PSP
- copy in PSP
- Paste to word
- repeat 500 times

Is there some macro or program that will do it automatically?

Hi Samir,

If your pictures were external, and linked to the file (via an
INCLUDEPICTURE field), then you could batch process them with PSP or
Irfanview etc, and the change in colour depth would be reflected immediately
you re-opened the document. No cutting & pasting required.

Cheers
