Automate Public Folder Creation

Hi

is the a script available to automate the creation of a public folder
hierachy.
We have over 300 folders to create which then in turn has to be linked to
sharepoint folders but i would be quite happy if i could first get a script
to create the public folder hierachy as it is pretty much the same just with
different headings under each section

Thanks in advance!

I'm assuming you want to list various SharePoint Contacts and Events Lists
from numerous WSS Sites into some semblance of a hierarchy in Outlook? Yes,
this is possible, but with some caveats.

The main limitation is that you can only link Contacts and Events Lists
(unless you are using SharePoint 2007 and Outlook 2007) to Outlook. The
second limitation is that you can't organize linked SharePoint Lists in the
SharePoint Folders hierarchy within Outlook. You're stuck with a flat
listing because this entire .pst store is read-only and you can't create nor
move folders. Lastly, and probably the biggest hurdle to automation, is that
the only way I know to link these folders automatically without user action
by using code is to use the StssyncHandler Control using the stssync Protocol
(see link below). This control can basically add this folder to Outlook by
clicking on a link that you generate, but you will always get a dialog
requesting confirmation of this action! So if you wanted to automatically
add 300 folders, the user would have to click OK 300 times (unless you used a
clunky programming mechanism like SendKeys).
