Automate Word Mail Merge Doc

I am trying to automate a complex document using VB6. I have the automation working using the wrdobj.destination=wdSendToNewDocument statement... The problem is that the table of contents in the created document and other bookmarks are no longer there. Is there a way to use a template or some other way to prevent the loss of the TOC etc when producing the merge file?

You should consider making you word document into a ".dot" template file.
Once you create "template.dot", you should be able to open the template and
insert bookmark fields that will be populated by your data from the source
file. Just a suggestion.
