Automated word templating

Hi,

I have about 50 documents (some over 100 pages) that I would like to
apply a specific template to.

Is there a way to automate this. Obviosuly I'm happy to go through
each one and make little changes where necessary but I was wondering
if there is a quicker way that openeing up each one , copying and
pasting it into the new template doc?

Hi,

You generally don't apply a template. The way a template works is you
have saved it in your templates folder. When you open it using Project
Gallery, a copy of your template is created so that the tempate remains
unchanged.

I think what you would like to do is apply styles or themes. It sounds
like you already have a document set up the way you want it. If that's
the case, open the document you want to use as the Theme. Then, use the
Document Theme section of the Formatting Palette to save the Theme in
your My Themes folder (which will be selected by default).

Quit Word.

When you re-open Word, your theme should now be in the Document Themes
section of the Formatting palette, and then you can apply the theme to
other documents.

To apply a Template, open the document and go to tools>Templates and
Add-ins>Attach and choose the template.

To bring in the styles, toggle the "Automatically update styles on open"
checkbox on.

Of you are using numbering within the document, turn that setting off again
immediately, because it re-sets the numbering every time it brings in the
styles. If you leave it on, it will bring in a new copy of the styles from
the template each time you open a document which is attached to a template.
