Is there any way to collate all the acronyms in a document [e.g. blah
blah (B.B)] into a list at the start of a doc?

Yes. You can use styles to accomplish this. Use a heading style for
each acronym that you want displayed in an index or table of contents.
Insert a Section Break at the beginning of your document and click on
the new blank page. Then you can click on Insert|Reference|Index and
Tables and make your selection there. Every time you add an acronym to
your document make sure that it has a style attached to it and then
click in your table of contents and click on your F9 key to
automatically update it. I hope this has been helpful to you.
