automatic change color in a cell

hi all,
i'm new to excel and related question, so excuse me if my
question could be so simple.
that's the problem:
i've a worksheet containg a set of cell linked to a dde
server in excel 2000.
everything works fine and the real time update it's ok.
I'd like to change the background color of a cell when
it's value changing in response to a dde update for a few
time, let's say 0,5 sec., and then come back to the
original background.
i think i need a macro...or not?

Since Y R new I will not tell you the exact answer though
try to check it out from Conditional Formating under
Format Menu. If U need more help for it try microsoft
excel beginners section.

have y ever found something like "change format when cell
is update for x second" in conditional formatting?
i haven't.
