Automatic downloading of attachments

All of my attachments automatically download to my desktop when I view an email. How can I stop it from automatically downloading?

Actually attachments are stored within the message. If you open an
attachment from a message it is temporarily stored at ~/Documents/Microsoft
User Data/Saved Attachments.

Can you be more specific about what you are experiencing? What kinds of
messages are you receiving and what kinds of attachments are being stored on
the Desktop?

But also to answer your question, you can stop Entourage from downloading
larger messages at Tools > Accounts > (your account) > Options > Partially
receive messages over...
