Automatic "From:" field changes

Hi all,

does anyone know how to let Outlook 2003 automatically change the "From:"
field when creating a new message according to currently selected mailbox in
the tree without using different profiles?

One of the add-ins from http://www.ivasoft.biz can do that; it's not a feature built into Outlook.

Apart from creating your own scripting solution there are at least two
shareware addins available which will do this for you, one of which I
happen to be the author of :
