automatic number change

When i enter "3-4" into a cell, excel changes to 38780. i tried to format
cell but it does not help. it occurs when i type in 12-13 and it changes to
39064. what is going on? how can i change this? i am using office 2003
with current updates.

Hi Dohoon,

I think excel changes your typing to exceldateformat. Maybe you can try
to format the Cell to Text you enter 12-13 or 3-4. I think it will stay
that way then. It is important that you do the formating befor you
enter the text.

Try to put a ' infront of you text. Like:

'3-4
