automatic publication as backup routine

Users should have the ability to schedule automatic publication routines
(e.g. save as pdf, html, etc) as part of 'backup options'. Since the file
format is proprietary and there is no 'OneNote Viewer', it is really vital to
have the notebooks (or sections) published regularly.

No doubt this is a worthwhile feature.
For now, to automate this, you could use a macro recorder.
For example, download and install AutoIT and then SciTE. Run the
"ScriptWriter" that it installed. This will record what steps to take to open
OneNote and publish your notebooks. Then compile this script as an exe in
AutoIT. Save it somewhere and have Windows Task Scheduler run it every so
often.

thanks so much for the suggestion. I tried to look at Windows Task Scheduler
previously, but I didn't know enough about scripting to make it useful. I
will definitely implement this.

Hi smack and doucettea,

I am having the exactly same need to publish OneNote to another format
so that I can read them outside my office.
I wonder whether the solution provided by doucetttea worked.
I tried AutoIT and SciTE, but whole I can make a script but I can not run it.
Either "Run Script" directly from the script or run exe after converting to
exe
did not do anything. Each time, when I ran it, it just made a process (using
cpu).
I have to end the process from task manager.
BTW, I am running it under 64 bit Vista.
