Automatic saving to a DIFFERENT file.

I have Word set for automatic backup, but I want it to be saved to a
DIFFERENT file and not the one it's already in. Is there anyway to do
that?

I'm not sure what you mean - Word now does save to a different file,
"Backup of xxxx".

Do you mean you want to save to a file with a different name?

I think he means he wants to save the backup to a different folder. Is that
right Marv?

By default, the backup is saved to the same folder that the original
document is in. I suppose you could move the backup to another folder
manually but I'm not aware of any way to tell Word to do that for you. It
wouldn't make sense either. If the backup is in a different folder from the
original document, then Word can't find it to update it and will create a
new backup document in the folder where the original document is.

Maybe you'd better clarify what you're trying to do Marv.

Right now if I want to save say Mac.doc which is in my mac folder, it
automatically makes a backup in the mac folder. I want it to make a
back up of Mac.doc but to put it in a different folder, one that will only
have my back-up files. This way my automatic .Mac backup software
can do daily backups on the .mac site without my having to hit all my
different folders and sorting out what to send each time.
