Automatic spell checker

Could someone help with automatic spell checker not working in Word 2007.

No matter what I do the spell checker doesn't want to work. I have
downloaded the latest updates with no luck. I have followed the various
suggestions such as selecting the text and then unchecking the "do not check
spelling grammar" box in Set Language box.

I did get an error once that stated something like spell checker doesn't
work with English (UK) get in touch with reseller or check Microsoft Office
site.
