Automatic update of resources

I want to consolidate my resources. I have about 2000
tasks, all populated with resources. Example: tester 1 ,
tester 2, tester 3. and I have just created a new
resource called tester. I want to automatically change
all the tester resources to "tester".

My requirements: keep duration and work constant. This
is a must. It is effort driven. Also, I need to do it
automatically becuase there are over 2000 tasks, and even
more resources.

2 errors I got: using the find / replace, i cannot
replace a resource when it is effort driven and it is on
fixed duration. It gives me an error saying "project
cannot create an assignment with a specific unit value on
fixed duration, effort driven".

The other error (when i dont use fixed duration) it says
it cannot update when the "resource list is greater than
256 characters.

It is very important that i'm able to do this, thanks for
the help

Hi,

Select all resources then press Alt+F10 to display the Assign Resources
dialog. Select resource Tester1 then click Replace and select Tester. Click
OK and a global replace will be done. Dates should remain unchanged unless
there are differences in the two resource calendars.
