Automatic update

Does anyone from Microsoft actually want to address this.
This seems to be a problem numerous people have had and
reported in this forum.

Please help ASAP.

Thank you in advance.

Whenever I try to do the check for updates for Office Pro
2003 it gets to about 80% and then I get the following
message.

The Office Update Catalog cannot be displayed Help

The Office Update site is currently experiencing some
technical difficulties and is unable to check for
updates.

Click the Try Again link below to try loading the site
again (do not use the Refresh button on your browser to
reload the site).

If problems persist, please contact Microsoft Support for
assistance. You can also search for Office updates in the
Download Catalog.

I have Windows XP SP2, but this has been going on for
about 6 months now and noone seems to have an answer for
me on how to fix. I have over 60 GB of HDD space, I have
Antivirus turned off and still the same thing. Can
someone please reply with a way to actually fix this.

Thank you
..

Same problem except it cuts out at 40%. The info page is
not helpful because it does not really address the
problem.

Check that the DCOM Server Process Launcher Service is set to Automatic.
The service is difficult to start manually, but will start on a reboot.

Q suggests, "Check that the DCOM Server Process Launcher
Service is set to Automatic." It is. Office Update still
does not work.

Check that Windows Installer Service is also running. Are you accessing
the correct country site? I had this problem some months ago, and did
not notice right away that I was on the UK site, however that happened.

Both services are started and still the same thing. Can some one from
Microsoft please answer this.

I have had this same problem for quite a few months as well.
I checked the two suggestions, neither worked to fix the problem
[The Windows Installer was set for Manual start so I changed that to Auto but
it still failed to fix the problem].
I initially suspected that this was associated with MS restricting access
due to the volume of people attempting to download SP2 but.... after this
many months that certainly couldn't be the case.

Nothing at all on the MS Knowledge base, etc. refers to this....

Any / all assistance is appreciated.
Thank you,
Scott
