Automatic updates select the wrong version of Office

A

Allen D.

When I go to the Microsoft Update site, the site tries to download Service
Pack 3 for Office XP, which I do not have. I have Office 2000 installed.

I continue getting a "Script Error" message for other sites I want to visit.
Those sites suggest that I do not have the proper software updates to allow
me access to them. Any suggestions?

Hi;

The XP SP3 update may be because you have some other part of Office XP
installed (or did have it installed and it left behind some traces). Do
you have anything like FrontPage or similar from XP on that system?

As for the script error thing, not sure. Some sites will always
generate minor errors, so you may want to go to the IE Options/Advanced
tab and turn Off the option to notify you about all script errors.
Beyond that, you can download/install this scripting support update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en
which may help with those errors.

Hi, Allen D.,

Check the Add/Remove Programs applet to see what Office programs are
installed on your system. Do you have FrontPage, or Publisher, or some
other Office XP family of product installed?
