Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Can anyone tell me why my Mac keeps telling me I am already running Word, Excel etc when I am out of these applications, have downloaded the update, but it won't instal once I put the Mac password in? I can't instal the latest 2.1.1 which is so frustrating and this is a new Mac!

Thanks

Clarissa

Hi Clarissa -

In order to help you out you'll need to be a bit more specific - I don't
mean to be finicky, but it *does* make a difference :)

Are you attempting to apply the Office 12.1.1 update or are you actually
applying the update to AutoUpdate (which is 2.1.1) itself? If the latter it
could be that you do in fact have the previous version of AutoUpdate still
running. Command+Tab to be sure & if it is quit it and try again.

If that's not the problem, are you on a network where any Office apps might
be running on another computer? Or could an Office app be running in another
user account on that same Mac? Those are potential causes.

Assuming the above is in order, run Disk Utilities - Repair Disk
Permissions, then log out, log in & try to apply the update again.

Post back with details - including specific error message content - if you
continue to have problems.

Have you installed the Office suite from the install DVD?

Am following this post........I am having similar problem, but whenever I run AU 2.1.1, it installs, and then wants to run AU2.1.1 again and again.....can't get past it.

I have installed from DVD, repaired permissions, shutdown and restarted, launched Word and tried to update from Help menu. Any other suggestions. This problem did not exist last week when installing OFFICE on other machines, but began to day.

Please always start your own thread!

See if this fix will help. Users have not reported the AutoUpdate looping,
but this is the fix for the Setup Assistant.
