Automatic Upgrade disappears if Add Complete XML Schema or Documen

I have a form that has a portion of the main DOM tied to an XML Schema
generated from a WSDL.

When I choose "Add Field or Group" and choose "Complete XML Schema or
Document" for the type and imoport the schema, the form no longer support
Automatic Upgrade as an option under the Advanced tab of the Form Options
window.

Is this by design? If so why?
