Hi:

After having updated Office 2008 to SP2, Entourage attempts asynchronous connections to port 3546 on other local systems running SP2. Entourage does not have to be running on both/all systems.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any thoughts on what is running over port 3546?

Thanks,

Manu

Hi:

An update...

And can this perhaps be related to Document Connection?

This anomaly is not specific to Entourage and port number(s) is/are not fixed. As long as an Office 2008 SP2 application is "detected" as running on another local system, each system will attempt to set up a connection with the other.

As stated, is this related to Document Connection?

I'm not sure what communication method Office apps use, but they do
check for installations of other Office apps on a network with the same
product keys as a means of preventing piracy.
