Hello. I'm got XP Office 2002. Been running XP Word over a year with the
Word app opening up and giving me a blank document in about 4 or 5 seconds
after I start the app. No problem. Yesterday, however, and all times since,
when I start Word it takes about 20 second to get the app to open and give
me a blank starting document. Addionally, after I finally get the screen, I
then select the document that I want to work on and open it .... BUT before
it shows up the status bar states that an virus request has been initiated,
and approx 20 seconds or so elapses before I get the document opened and
available to work on. From that point on, everything is okay. I have Nortan
Anti-Virus enabled and running, as I have been for months. No other program
on my computer is exhibiting any indications of slowness, so I've got to
assume this is Word's doing, something automatic that somehow got enabled in
Word. What do I do about this? Does anyone know? If the answer is
reinstalling Word, go ahead and tell me, but I'll probably just start using
Works or switch to WordPerfect because I'm irritated to hell.
Thanks,
Ed
