Automatically check names

the automatic name changing option is selected in outlook,
however outlook will not automatically check/recognize
names when typing them into the address field. what could
be causing this to happen?

If you type in part of a name in your contacts, and press Ctrl+K or the
Check Names button, does it work?

its outlook 2000. clicking check names doesn't work
either.
